Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area
Horicon Marsh is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States. Renowned for its migrant flocks of Canada geese, this area is also home to more than 260 kinds of birds. Due to its importance to wildlife, Horicon Marsh has been designated as a “Wetland of International Importance” and a “Globally Important Bird Area.” Located approximately one hour north of Milwaukee, the marsh is both a state wildlife area and national wildlife refuge.
A portion of each tour registration fee will be donated to Horicon Marsh on behalf of SETAC. These donations will be used in programs to help educate students and others about the area.

Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center connects people with nature and inspires them to become responsible stewards of the natural world.

Historic Cedarburg : Cedar Creek Winery & Boutique Shopping
The day begins with private transportation approximately 20 miles to the north to the quaint village of Cedarburg, Wisconsin which is a U.S. Historical city. Next, stop in at the Cedar Creek Winery and taste some of the local wines of the Wollersheim family.
Then there is time to amble along the main street of Cedarburg (about 5 blocks) and pick out a friendly place for lunch. Whether your passion is antiquing, quilting, southwest cooking, decorating or just plain browsing there is something for everyone in this wonderful little village.

Milwaukee City Tour
Nowhere is the history of this great city more richly revealed than through architecture and ethnicity. From the history of Kilbourn Town, Juneautown and Walkers Point, separated by two rivers, the Milwaukee and Kinnickinnic, to the Beer Baron Mansions that are Pabst and Schlitz, Milwaukee tells an immense tale in her buildings and structures. Witness all the history aboard a private motor coach tour.

Discovery World Aquarium
For more than 30 years, people have learned about science, economics and technology at Discovery World. Now, this famous hands-on center has been recreated on Milwaukee’s lakefront and promises to stimulate and educated visitors of all ages. Discovery World connects innovation, science and technology with exploration, environment and Great Lakes freshwater resources through interactive exhibits and experiential learning.

Interested in seeing the first Santiago Calatrava-designed building in the United States or exceptional works by Monet, Degas, O’Keefe and Warhol? Upon completion of the Discovery World tour, those who wish may visit the Art Museum at their leisure.

The Domes & Miller Brewery
Experience a dessert oasis, a tropical jungle and special floral gardens all in one location at Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory (The Domes).
When you think of Milwaukee, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Beer! During the tour you will learn the Miller process, learn about their history in Milwaukee and best of all at the end of the tour, you will get to sample the brew!

Student Career-Mentor Event
This annual event is an opportunity for students to mingle and network with many SETAC members! Your participation will strengthen the networks within SETAC and provide the valuable opportunity for discussion of scientific topics and career experiences. These events are informal, interactive and useful professional development. This function will be held at the Midwest Airlines Center. Pre-registration is required. No charge. Open to students and mentors only. Dinner will be served.

Fun Run
After a short bus ride to the Lakefront, runners will arrive at the starting line in Veteran’s Park. Heading southeast along beautiful Lake Michigan, the route will point you toward the Milwaukee Art Museum and bustling Downtown with its impressive skyline. Continuing north, the path leads you along McKinley Marina, Lincoln Memorial Drive with some of Milwaukee’s oldest mansions and the shores of Bradford Beach.

Annual Tuesday Night Social Event:
An Evening with Harley-Davidson
This evening all the SETAC attendees and guests are invited to an evening of fun, great tailgate food, cold inviting drinks, a swinging DJ and HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTOR CYCLES.
The fun begins as we board private transportation for the short transfer to one of the Midwest Region’s finest Harley-Davidson Dealerships.
You will be greeted by the Harley Angels who will point out various activities for you to enjoy. The dealership showroom will be open for you to browse through the different models of bikes that Harley has currently manufactured. The Harley staff will be happy to oblige anyone wishing to sit on a real Harley motorcycle. The merchandise area will also be open to pick out that special memento for yourself or a great gift for someone back home. Small groups will also be allowed into the Dyno room where you can experience the power of Harley as the staff explains how they test the horsepower of each motorcycle.
For dinner, enjoy the tastes of an authentic Wisconsin tailgate complete with bratwurst, chicken, BBQ rib sandwiches, and of course beer. Throughout the evening, enjoy rock and roll music and even try winning a prize at some of the games including horse shoes and been bag toss. There will also be Milwaukee HOG (Harley Owners Group) members available to anyone wishing to go for a 2-mile ride to experience the power of Harley.
Toward the end of the evening, everyone will be invited to the burnout pit where you will witness first-hand the burning of Harley’s rear tire.
This is one tailgate party that the SETAC attendees and guests will not forget!

Visit three of the landmark churches in Milwaukee while witnessing St. Josephat’s Basilica, St. Joan of Arc Chapel and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with a stop for lunch at a Milwaukee landmark restaurant.
