Student Activities
As an undergraduate, a graduate student, or a professional in a postdoctoral fellowship, be sure to plan to attend the student functions at the SETAC North America 28 th Annual Meeting! Students are an important component of SETAC, and these events give all students an opportunity to exchange ideas and talk with peers from other research facilities. These events are informal, interactive, and inexpensive - we include the cost in your registration. We look forward to seeing you in Milwaukee!
Here are some things you don’t want to miss!
- Short Courses: On Sunday, take a short course!
- Monday Noontime Seminar: - This seminar is Considerations and Strategies of Job Hunting: What’s the Outlook in 2007 and Beyond? Learn what to include in your résumé and how to prepare it, hear about interviewing skills, and how to network, and more! On Tuesday, learn about Networking Among Student Chapters. Meet students from other chapters and share ideas on what has and has not worked. Pre-registering students will be able to sign up for the lunch during the seminar.
- Student Career-Mentor Event: - After Monday’s poster session, plan to attend the Student Career-Mentor Event. You can’t afford to miss this opportunity to mingle and network with many SETAC members! Your participation will strengthen the networks within SETAC and provide a valuable opportunity for discussion of scientific topics and career experiences. The cost of the Career-Mentor dinner is included in your student registration, and all students planning to attend should pre-register as seating is limited.
- Wednesday Noontime Seminar: Networking by Expertise - learn how to create, build, maintain and use a network by areas of expertise that can make your career choices more meaningful. This interactive discussion will provide opportunities for students to begin networking with each other and other SETAC members with various levels of experience! Let us know if you want to hear from various scientific expert areas (email Cindy Howard at howardc@uhcl.edu). Pre-registering students will be able to sign up for the lunch during the seminar.
- Informal Mixer - At the end of the day, plan on attending the Informal Mixer on Wednesday night starting at 8 pm. The Student Council and Student Activities Committee will be arranging this mixer as another means to network. Watch the SETAC meeting webpage and check the Student Council booth for up-to-date information.
